Historic Route 66 in Yukon remains open during construction improvements. While visitors may experience temporary lane closures or detours, local shops, restaurants, attractions, and businesses continue to welcome guests along Main Street.

CURRENT CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Beginning May 11, 2026, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) began a mill and overlay project along Historic Route 66/Main Street in Yukon from 6th Street east to the SH-4/Cornwell Drive intersection.
To help minimize impacts to businesses, residents, and visitors, construction activities will primarily take place overnight Monday through Friday between approximately 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. During daytime hours, lanes are expected to reopen to normal traffic whenever possible.
The project will begin near 6th Street and move east toward Cornwell Drive. Work will take place in phases, beginning with the outside lanes and parking areas, followed by the inside lanes.
